Red Riders of the DOC
The Diabetes Online Community (DOC) consists of people with diabetes, parents of children with diabetes, caregivers, and healthcare provider for people with diabetes who interact through blogs, tweets, Facebook, and diabetes-oriented online communities -- the largest of which are dLife, TuDiabetes, and Diabetic Connect.
Red Riders
are people with diabetes who participate in the American Diabetes Association's (ADA's) Tour de Cure bicycling events. The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising bicycle rides held throughout the United States. Each participating ADA chapter offers a selection of routes suitable for all levels of recreational and competitive cyclists. By identifying themselves to their local Tour de Cure ride as people with diabetes, Red Riders are given distinctive jerseys to wear during the ride to encourage other riders and to raise awareness for the ADA's mission.
In addition to riding these events, Red Riders of the DOC actively talk up these events in their blog posts, tweets, and social networks (both online and offline), help each other fundraise, and encourage other people with diabetes to participate in Tour de Cure events.
