Author's note: this turned out to be a rather pessimistic retelling of the Forever Knight episode, "Last Knight."
There was a vampire, reluctant vampire
Who
wandered far and wide with his sire by his side
There was none braver
than this Crusader
Who fought his hunger's tide to see the sun.
He
searched for ages, asked fools and sages
In hopes that they'd reverse
this vampire's deadly curse
For he is trying, his faith is dying
For him to once more see the sun.
CHORUS:
Because a
vamp's life's not a mortal life
Cannot take a wife -- bloodlust's
always rife
As fair as immortality may be
It is not the life he
craves.
And now this vampire, reluctant vampire
Who
wandered far and wide, and wished to take a bride
Sees her life
fading, and his crusading
His only hope that they'll be one.
He
called his maker, his pure soul's taker,
And handed him a stake,
asked him his life to take
His faith is strong now, it won't be long
now
Before he and his love will be as one.
CHORUS:
But
a vamp's life's not a mortal life
Chance for evil's rife, must take
it as a wife
No matter how hard a vamp tries to atone,
He can
never be forgiv'n.
And now this vampire, reluctant vampire
Who traveled far and wide, to seek Salvation's side,
While he
was kneeling, his case appealing,
His maker damned him to Hell.
He's
in the desert, purgator's desert,
Awaits the burning light to see his
heart's delight,
Yet he must face now, his victims' grace now
That
he might see his love again.
CHORUS:
Because a vamp's
life's not a mortal life,
Causing mortals strife, fangs strike like a
knife
Until his victims allow him to atone,
He can never see his
love.
CHORUS:
Because a vamp's life's not a mortal life,
Where damnation's rife, causing others' strife,
Neither
Salvation nor a Deity's grace
Can grant the soulless vamp his love.
